New build coastal home with bi-folding doors
This beautiful new build, designed by TFQ Architects and situated overlooking the sea in one of East Devon’s most picturesque locations, Budleigh Salterton, was built with one objective – to make the most of the view.
The design of The Beach Hut incorporated reverse level accommodation, with large terraces to the living areas over the roof of the lower floor bedrooms. A tensile structure of green oak masts and cotton sails was integrated into the building’s structure to provide covered external dining areas and solar protection to the large glazed areas.
The property has been recognised for the quality of design, materials and sensitivity to the site and its surroundings in design awards presented by the Otter Valley Association for projects in the East Devon area.
The owners of this fantastic house chose Sunfold ‘for their slim sight lines, the good engineering and the robust sealing system’. It can be an important consideration when building near the sea, due to the salty air which can cause severe weathering to a home’s windows and doors.
The architects for this project, chose Exeter-based Sunfold partner Aspect Windows to install Sunfold SFK70 Bi-Folding doors, using Coolite Solar Control Glazing. Frames Finished in RAL7024 - Graphite Grey internally and RAL9011 - Graphite Black externally.
Sunfold products can be viewed in the South West at Aspect Windows’ extensive showroom, located at 8 Apple Lane, Trade City, Off Sidmouth Road, Exeter EX2 5GL or online at www.aspect-windows.com.
